Advertise outdoors in Old Tafo

Old Tafo Municipal Assembly is the only authority that issues permits for billboards, signboards and all other outdoor advertising in the municipality.

You need a permit before you put up any advert that can be seen from a public road or space, whether it is on your own premises, on private property or on public land.

Adverts put up without a permit can be removed by the Assembly, and the owner may be charged for the removal and face penalties.

How to apply

  1. Collect an application form

    Get the outdoor advertising application form from the Assembly.

  2. Submit your application

    Return the form with a design of the advert, its size and its exact location, together with the documents listed below.

  3. Site inspection

    Officers inspect the proposed location to check safety, visibility for road users and planning rules.

  4. Pay the permit fee

    If approved, pay the fee for your advert type, size and location, and keep your official receipt.

  5. Install your advert

    Put up the advert only after you receive your permit, exactly as approved, and display the permit number where required.

What you need

  • Completed outdoor advertising application form
  • Design or artwork of the advert, showing its dimensions
  • Location of the advert, with a sketch or photo of the site
  • Written consent of the property owner, if the advert is on private land or a building
  • Structural drawings for billboards and other large free-standing structures
  • Business registration certificate of the advertiser or advertising agency

Large structures need extra safety checks. Speak to the Assembly before you commission a billboard so the location and design can be approved without delays.
