About the role
The Presiding Member chairs meetings of the General Assembly and keeps its business orderly and fair. Elected from among Assembly members by at least a two-thirds majority, the Presiding Member also chairs the Public Relations and Complaints Committee, which hears concerns raised by the public about the Assembly.
